We will soon begin publishing a periodic blog to help actors become autodidacts. What is an “autodidact” you may ask? An autodidact is a self-taught person. “But you teach at an acting school, so why do you want actors to become self-taught?” Schools help to teach you how to think and give you direction, but it is through an actor’s own exploration of the field that they learn to apply the concepts to their craft in their own unique personal manner. Hopefully, the ideas that we’ll present here will spark your curiosity to dig deeper and find those things that inspire your growth as an actor.
